Sreeja Kamishetty

Sreeja Kamishetty is a passionate and optimistic young woman who loves collaborating with others to develop products using technology that improve people's lives and make a difference in the world. In addition to 10+ years of product building and research experience, she has over 5 years of experience working at Google.

Sreeja is a Senior Software Engineer at Google Chrome where she works on model quality and training for Chrome's new AI and ML features. She previously managed various Chrome projects that improved performance (LCP, Search Latency) and made Chrome the fastest browser. In Chrome, she introduced spare tabs for navigation which resulted in a more efficient architecture for navigation. Collaborated and shared expertise with teams across the globe including Japan, London, and the United States. Several gold perfy awards were given for outstanding performance impact across Google. Sreeja worked on BackForwardCache, MPArch to support features like Prerendering, Portals, Fenced Frames. Introduced precog architecture to integrate various preloading features, and developed slackline to identify performance bottlenecks in navigation.

The Chromium Google Summer of Code initiative is led by Sreeja to bring more voices to making the web a better place for everyone. She has led a team of over 200 people, including contributors, mentors and admins around the world for the past three years. Over three years, Led Chromium GSoC with 45 successful open source projects with a 100% success rate and have mentored hundreds of students to get started. Worked with chromium leadership and Google mentors to make the program a huge success. She was awarded various spot bonuses by Chrome VP Parisa Tabriz and Google SVP Hiroshi Lockheimer for this outstanding contribution.

She was awarded a Google Venkat Panchapakesan scholarship, which is awarded to fewer than six students in India, as well as a Google GetAhead scholarship, which is awarded to only twenty students worldwide. She completed her Btech and master's degrees at IIIT Hyderabad's Machine Learning Lab and has published numerous articles, patents, and research papers in the field of AI and IT.
